For the second consecutive season, Josh Cartwright is the CWL's home run king. Even though Cartwright finished second to Brandan Cofer in the regular season home run totals and third last season, Cartwright has been able to put his home run swing together in the derby to win for two straight years.

After an impressive 10-homer first round, Cartwright cruised into the second round to face Patrick Lowery, who had four first-round homers, and Brandan Cofer, who had three first-round homers. Lowery put on a second-round show with nine home runs, while Cartwright managed just four second-round bombs. Cofer made a strong comeback with eight home runs, but was already too far in the hole for it to make a difference.

Lowery and Cartwright then settled in to what looked to be a finals showdown, but Lowery couldn't get any balls out of the park in his final round, although it was more wind-related than anything of his own doing.

Cartwright then stepped up, needing only one home run to win, and hit the second pitch he saw over the fence in left-center to win the 2007 Derby. Cartwright also hit the longest homer of the day, a 175-ft blast into the tall grass beyond the left-field fence.
